Kelly O's-1130 Perry Highway Pines Plaza,Pgh Pa. 3/08/11, 2:30 pm

Stopped at Kelly O's today. This is one of the Diner Ladies and has been seen on the Food Network show Diner's, drive-ins and dives. As we Two fat ladies love fish we both got a fish sandwich, and I had the crab bisque, with my sister getting the turkey pot pie soup. Yes you read it right, turkey pot pie soup. This is a rich combination of turkey in a white sauce with vegetables. It is topped with broken shards of crisp pie crust and served hot. This is a meal in itself. I had the crab bisque, this was so thick I stood my spoon upright in the cup. It has a thick creamy texture, with chunks of crab, just delicious!. The fish sandwich was a generous piece of cod on a fresh bun. The fish is beer battered but has a light, crispy texture. This sandwich was a little overcooked, but was still good none the less. The sandwich comes with wonderful french fries that are hot and crisp ; and cole slaw that was fresh, crunchy and moderately vinegary. My sister had hot coffee that she described as good and strong and I had fresh brewed iced tea that was right on point.
All in all, a good lunch, but the prices are a little high in relations with other similar types of places. Here a hamburger is $4.50 with 50c added per topping; clubs are $6 to $7.69 and pretty ordinary sandwiches are between $2.50 for a hot dog to $6.19 for a grilled ham and cheese.Salads start at $7.59. This place is only opened til 3pm and it is not handicapped accessible.
